Student got arrested go downloading from torrent in usa
Section Possession of plates for purpose of making infringing copies. He directed all ISPs to drop the line "'viewing, downloading, exhibiting or duplicating' a particular film is a penal offence" from the 'error message' and directed them to display a more generic message on URLS to be blocked for infringement of copyright.
To put in one line: "If a person download a pirated content to distribute. It's an offence". Has anyone arrested in India for downloading from torrent? But that doesn't mean it will not happen in future. Many people still use torrent in India. I too use torrent to download movies and games. But to be on safe side everyone should use VPN or Proxy just in case.
All my friends believe that torrent download is legal in India. God forbid that the government of India starts to take a strict action.. Everyone will be in big trouble. I believe the new platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix and Hotstar have made it quite cheap to access all movies. At least the popular ones.. Agreed that the wait time sometimes is more like a month or two, but truth be told, there is so much watch-worthy content on these sites, that you can while your time waiting to watch the newest flick.
Just my two cents, I guess. As of now, no one has been arrested or there have been no official records at least but that doesn't mean a person will not be arrested always. We don't when the govt may take strict action on the users. The public has been asked not to use torrent for many reasons like they may try to get your details and etc.
Isn't it the reason we see torrent frequently changes it's URL and is now asking the users to have a VPN and accesses its site and not to type their URL in google instead just bookmark that site.
May be no, I have never heard someone being arrested for downloading from torrent in India. I had been using torrent but never received any legal warrant or warming of being arrested. But now after reading your question I fear what if get such a warning or what if I arrested, I need to think over this now on.
I recall, many times I use to get downloading warnings but never read if as "Ok" on the warning was better to clicked it on. Two months before I tried downloading from torrent but sites down in our domain now. Recently, I have not checked it yet. I don't think anyone got arrested yet though it is illegal to download from torrent sites as it is banned in India to stop piracy, the funniest thing is the government thinks it is blocked and no one has access to it but fortunately all have vpn's in their computer these day.
I suggest to use vpn if you're using torrent sites to keep yourself anonymous. As of now there are no records of arresting people for downloading content from torrent. No, Libgen is not legal, and using Libgen may open you up to legal ramifications. This, however, is not true. Libgen did not acquire their books legally. This is evident in the many lawsuits they have faced. Therefore, downloading books from Libgen is no safer than downloading from other illegal book sharing sites and torrents.
More importantly, it is not legal to download books from Libgen. However, many of the books that can be legally downloaded for free on Libgen are also legally available to download for free on more reputable sites.
Lifehacker reports that perhaps the most common way for ISPs to fight BitTorrenting is to "throttle" a user's Internet connection, slowing it down or even cutting the connection off.
The practice is most prevalent in Canada, where it's had little effect. ISPs are also known to have fielded requests from copyright enforcers who pressure them to give up an Internet user's contact information, most often to send the offender a warning letter or a subpoena. BitTorrent users can avoid throttling or legal trouble by hooking up to virtual private networks and proxies for their connection online.
In the latter scenario, someone's IP address is re-routed through another one so a BitTorrenter's real IP stays relatively anonymous to the other users they are connecting with. There are also newer piracy sites that subvert peer-to-peer connections altogether, avoiding the inherent risk of linking to someone who could be working for the MPAA.
Until those methods catch on, the Pirate Bay and other BitTorrent sites will continue their arms race against law enforcement. Technology Internet.
